About Garden Route Botanical Garden

Garden Route Botanical Garden

Officially opened as a Botanical Garden in 1998, the property of the Garden Route Botanical Garden (GRBG) dates back to the establishment of the town of George itself (in 1811), when the first Mayor created a system of furrows to feed two large dams (the towns first water source). These dams now form the heart of the GRBG, attracting a myriad of birds and insects.

This public garden is accessible at a nominal fee of R10.00 per entry (children under 12 enter free of charge). For unlimited visits for a 12 month period, one can also sign up as a member (forms can be found on the website of at our offices).
